Judging from other reviews Sara won't have many over 50 male fans which is a shame. I have really enjoyed the entire Descent and Ascension series which I read over the last month or so. No spoilers, but this book and the rest have delivered an exciting ride. Thanks to Sara for making her books reasonable in price and delivering terrific value. I can highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy as long as you don't mind blood, language and a bit of sex thrown in. I'm not a great werewolf fan, and that is the only part of Sara's world that doesn't really grab me. Also, Sara's female characters do seem more rounded than her male characters, but there's no harm in a bit of stereotyping. I have to admit that even I could happily have throttled James a few times over the last few books, but strangely still buy in. I am desperate to get hold of Sins of Eden as I have been reading the previous 13 books in her story with a few sleepless nights. As most other reviewers will tell you - start from the beginning of the series as it will pay back the investment. Praise for the proof editors as well as these books are pretty much free of mistakes given the reasonable price.Tags : Torn by Fury (The Ascension Series Book 6) - Kindle edition by SM Reine. Torn by Fury The Ascension Series Book 6 edition by SM Reine Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
Like many of the other fans of this series I was waiting for this book to come out. Like normal once I downloaded it I couldn't put my down. Elise seems more like a badass than ever, not only for her normal kopis/demon/Godslayer reason but you see a more human side of her than you did when she was human. Without giving anything away, Elise is willing to do whatever it takes to make things right not only in Hell but on Earth too. James is willing to and does everything in his power to save Elise, you have to read to figure out if what the aspis does for his kopis is in vain or not.
The reason behind Rylie letting the pack go without a fight is revealed and you can't really fault her for it either. Unfortunately her head, heart and wolf still are fighting about how she really feels about Abel and her issues with Seth. Abel gets some good time in this book too and in my mind makes up for some of his past mistakes/misguided ideas of what is the right thing to do.
Nathaniel and Benjamin are not the only familiar faces that show up in this awesome book, but by far the most confusing for a lack of better words. Its not like their actions are out of left field for them or anything but so many theories of what they are both up too really is dancing in my head. I have been coming up with alternate outcomes to some of the actions that have played out till the end of the book. And can’t wait till Sins of Eden comes out and we all find out for sure what those two boys are up too.
SM Reine has said that there is one more book left in this series which is exciting and sad at the same time. You can see some closer coming but not sure how or when it will come. She has done such a good job of weaving the lives of all these amazing characters together creating this world that you can't but want to see what happens to them. I think the next book will blow our minds away even more so than this one did.
I can only give this book 5 stars because that is the highest they let me! I would give it 50 if I could. If you have read any of this series or Sm's series books you HAVE to buy this one! Does it answer all the questions you have, nope, it only adds to your desire to read more! I have been in love with Elise since day one, and this book made me feel for her even more. I will not give any of the plot away in this review, I will just restate that if you love werewolves and demons and angels and all the parinormal stuff then grab your copy now..with the normal disclosure that if you have not read book one then go back, find it and start from the start!
Just finished this book and anxiously waiting for the next book (and final one if I read in my hurry correctly). I read all of the Descent and Ascension series in about 2 months or so on my Android phone in every spare moment I could find. Very addicting. Events flow nicely and you're not left feeling like this chapter is dragging on forever.
As for this book specifically - The turnaround on James' character in this book surprised me. I liked having him as the 'Good-Guy Gone-Bad'. But I'm glad that he seems to have come to his senses and isn't so desperate to achieve his goals no matter what the cost. I also hope that this isn't really the end for those that succumbed to the obsidian falchion! Sorry don't want to give too much away!
I inhaled this series and its predecessor, The Descent Series. Both are so incredibly delicious. I am surprised I did not review on Book 6 and a few others in both series, so must have only done so on the final one or the initial one. Every book in each of these series are tasty beyond belief. SM Reine really out does herself. "Descent" and "Ascension" are series you will not want to miss out on!
I have to say this was my favorite of the series. I like how the ending wrapped things up and pleasantly leads to the next book. I have read other books that leave an excruciating ending where the story just cuts off. Drives me batty. But not SM Reine, she does a very good job on illustrating this story and it is going to be difficult to not leave spoilers. There may have been one or two grammatical errors, but nothing to really sneeze at. The story line really played out well and I honestly could not put the book down. I have to say I did get a bit teary-eyed at the end and I had to read the last page a couple times because I honestly could not believe what James had done. I am do glad he was able to redeem himself and show Elise he truly does care. I am not going to lie, every time Elite gives someone cap for having babies during the war I keep expecting karma to hit her in the face and tell her that she is pregnant. I look forward to finding out how Seth and Rylie come back and how that plays out, especially since Abel has pretty much lost his mind. This is by far the most intriguing series I have read and I plan on following your books for however long you decide to engage in writing. Oh, and enjoy your pregnancy! I can not imagine the crazy dreams you are going to have while writing this next book ) hopefully no puppies being born p
