Another book in the series, these sort of feel like they could have been put into fewer novels. More hijinx in the life and love of Princess Mia. Will she get her gift in time? Will those cats ever shut up? Will Grandmere behave herself when the tourists come for dinner? Read it to find out.Tags : Amazon.com: The Princess Present: A Princess Diaries Book (Princess Diaries, Vol. 6 1/2) (9780060754334): Meg Cabot: Books,Meg Cabot,The Princess Present: A Princess Diaries Book (Princess Diaries, Vol. 6 12),HarperTeen,0060754338,Royalty,Christmas,Christmas stories,Christmas;Fiction.,Diaries,Diaries;Fiction.,Humorous stories,Princesses,Princesses;Fiction.,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 7-9),Fiction,Fiction-General,Holidays & Celebrations - Christmas & Advent,JUVENILE,Juvenile Fiction,Juvenile Grades 7-9 Ages 12-14,Monograph Series, any,Royalty (kings queens princes princesses knights etc.),TEEN'S FICTION - GENERAL,United States,YOUNG ADULT FICTION,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Family Multigenerational,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Holidays & Celebrations,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Romance Contemporary,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Royalty,Young Adult FictionFamily - Multigenerational,Young Adult FictionHumorous - General,Young Adult FictionRomance - Contemporary,Young Adult FictionRoyalty
The Princess Present A Princess Diaries Book Princess Diaries Vol 6 1/2 Meg Cabot Books Reviews
Princess Mia is in Genovia for the Christmas holidays and she couldn't be more exited. Her boyfriend Micheal and his sister Lily, who also happens to be Mia's best friend, are in Genovia for the first time. Mia couldn't be me happy that she will be able to show them the country she will one day rule. She also has the perfect Christmas present for Micheal to enjoy and she can't wait for him to see it. Unfortunately things start going wrong before too long. Lily's attitude and her ways start causing problems immediately and soon all different kinds of situations start popping up. Mia begins to wonder if her perfect Christmas is set to be ruined. Can she make it all better again.
I am a big fan of the Princess Diaries series and I enjoy reading the little books that Cabot adds to the series. In my opinion this was probably the best one out of all of the little stories. Its defintely a nice holiday read for all fans of Princess Diaries. Definitely recommend it)
I thought this installment of the Princess Diaries series, the in-between holiday short book, was an entertaining read. It's always nice to read some of the things we miss out on hearing from the Princess Diaries books and the holiday season has never really been tackled in the season so it was a nice new thing to see.
The main things going on in here are Mia and Michael's gift giving plot (if you didn't see the Gift of the Magi plot coming a mile away when Mia mentioned selling Fiesta Giles, shame on you) and Lilly being at her absolute worst and rudest here.
I've never been a big fan of Lilly in the books (she's not so bad in the films comparatively) but here she was probably at her most immature, which is saying A LOT. I don't get why this had to be the main purpose of including Lilly in this book cause, to be honest, it just made me dislike her more especially since she never actually learns anything from the good lesson Mia explained to her. It never ceases to surprise me how many times in the series Mia asks herself why she puts up with Lilly, when there really is no good reason.
My favorite part in the novella was when the tourist told Grandmere that she'd enjoy scrapbooking. It's such a funny idea to picture Grandmere doing that. She's always such a riot!
This is a short novel in the delightful Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot. If you have not encountered these books about the American girl who discovers she is Princess of Genovia, you obviously have no pre-teen or teenage girls in your life (although it would be hard to have missed the ads for the movies made from the series.)
I ran across my copy (acquired when we still had young girls in the house, hence the slightly aged publication date) while I was supposed to be doing a closet reorganization. The book is short, and re-reading it made a perfect excuse to delay house cleaning! Plus it made a perfect argument for my spouse in the ongoing battle about never opening a book during a chore, since I have been known to stand in one spot, aimlessly polishing a hole in the counter (a la Jeff Daniels in "Pleasantville"), as I read.
The action in this book has irrepressible Mia (played by Anne Hathaway in the Disney movies) in Genovia for Christmas. The bad news is, she has princess duties to perform shaking a traditional olive branch in the fireplace to bless the hearth, entertaining other young royals (including Britain's Prince William), and helping her Grandmère (elegantly portrayed in the movies by Julie Andrews) rule Genovia.
The good news is, she gets to invite her American best friend Lilly, and her heart-throb, Lilly's brother Michael.
As always with Princess Mia, her plans go awry. Lilly's rude t-shirts and casual approach to palace protocol set Grandmère's teeth in a grim line. Michael doesn't seem the least bit jealous, even when Mia dances with Prince William. She has a little problem with a stray cat. And she's having trouble finding the perfect Christmas present for Michael.
With notes of O. Henry's "Gift of the Magi", and many sly allusions to the movies ("...movies that aren't strictly FACTUAL, if you know what I mean..." the young lady reminds us), this book is an excellent choice for the bookshelf of your daughter, niece or grandchild—especially if she is already familiar with Mia, Princess of Genovia.
My daughter loved the book. I ordered the entire series for her.
I love it because this is a great book to read. I really like this book of what's happening Mia and her friends.
Princess Mia is celebrating Christmas in Genovia with her Grandmere, father, and her visiting best friend Lily and boyfriend Michael. A touch of the Gift of the Magi and some soap opera in the form of rebellious Lily, the short novella is an nice addition to the series. It's interesting to see this wonderful heroine in the country she will one day rule. Grade A-
My daughter is a HUGE fan of the princess diaries. This is a well written book. She loved it. Thanks
Another book in the series, these sort of feel like they could have been put into fewer novels. More hijinx in the life and love of Princess Mia. Will she get her gift in time? Will those cats ever shut up? Will Grandmere behave herself when the tourists come for dinner? Read it to find out.
