Loved this book. It's 450 in the morning and I've been reading since 10pm! The characters are so developed and while you know where it's all going, you just enjoy the story so you keep reading. So different than other books I have read by Tess and just as wonderful to read.
I have read almost every book Tess Thompson has written. However, I think DUET FOR THREE HANDS is the best one of all! This book had me hooked from the second I started it and I didn't want to stop reading to find out what happened next. I love her characters - good, bad, and in between! They are all so multi-faceted and complex. I can't wait until Tess Thompson comes out with more books....she can't write fast enough for me!
Excellent historical fiction. Tess Thompson does a good job of drawing the reader into the time period and making you want to keep reading! I didn't download this one for a while since it didn't seem to be a book that I would be interested in but I was wrong. It still has the romance of the other T. Thompson books that I have enjoyed but this one has a deeper, thought provoking story line. I highly recommend this book!
This book is wonderful! It draws you in from the very first page and keeps you reading voraciously until the last words flutter away. It is historical fiction, set in the deep south from 1928 to 1934. It is told by four very different people. Whitmore, the son of wealthy southerners, Lydia, the widow, Nathaniel, the concert pianist, and Jeselle, the black daughter of Cassie. Their stories twist together and draw you in until you are one with them. They tell of prejudice, love, fear, and bravery. Tess Thompson uses her beautiful descriptive writing to paint pictures in your head that stay with you long after you put the book down. This is honestly one of the best books I have read in a long time! I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
This is my first time reading 📚 this authors work and I'm beyond thrilled with this story. It is clearly one of the best books I've read.

This story has brought out every emotion possible. It shows the true nature of human beings. Even in the most hateful, horrific circumstances, there is goodness. The story shows the dark side of racism, domestic violence; but it also shows the beauty of the human spirit.

I would definitely recommend this book as one that will touch your soul and makes you think about life and death. I fell in love with the characters and even the ones who were horrible, they too played a role in making this a memorable read.
Tess Thompson has a wonderful style with her word weaving. A peculiar but apropos title, Duet For Three Hands is a uniquely beautiful telling of several affaires de coeur. It's laid so full of powerful emotions, I found myself sobbing a few times. Every anticipated or dreaded plot-line that Ms Thompson threw at us, skillfully comes together in an unbelievable finish. Resolution is even granted to the cruel or besotted fools told of. I was in such a blue funk when I got to the end... I hope the author plans on writing more about these complex and colourful characters.
What an absolutely beautiful story!
This was such an enjoyable experience,this was a story written in that grand old-fashioned style like (north and south) just epic.I love that from the beginning the writer weaves a story that is so good you can see it unfold.There is so much emotion in the entire story.This was my first time reading this writer's work and I must say she's made me a believer and a fan.This is just good writing and a really good story.
