Ultimately, this is a book about relationships. Five childhood friends reunite 20 years after their friendship is fractured. The interweaving of the childhood and adult timelines is confusing early in the book because of the number of characters. However, the structure allows the story of the fracturing to emerge gradually and the resolution as adults is very well done. All five key characters have distinct personalities and those personalities are maintained through both the childhood and adult stories. These personalities also realistically contribute to the fracture and repair of the relationships.

While the lesbian relationship is important within the plot, this relationship is not the focus of the book. Readers looking for a romance novel should read one of Cooper's other books instead (all that I've read have been excellent).

Note for Kindle readers - there was no editor checking that the eBook was created correctly. There are a couple of consistent typos (all words ending in 'th' are concatenated with the following word and case changed so 'with other' becomes 'wiTHother', and all words ending in 'y' have the 'y' separated so 'busy' becomes 'bus y'). If that sort of error is going to throw you out of the story, stick to paper.

Unbreakable Blayne Cooper 9781883523763 Books Reviews

Are you looking for a feel-good love story that will have you laughing out loud? Then buy this book. This story clicks on so many levels - friendship, betrayal, 1st love, true love. I've read all of Blayne Cooper's work and loved them all - she truly gets better with each new book. Loved the surprise ending. Can't wait to see what she'll write next.
Don't let the aesthetics of this book fool you; the content is evolved and leaves you wanting more. With pieces of the story gradually revealed to you, this story keeps you guessing until the end. A love story and a mystery of sorts. Vivid and real.
I loved the author's Stranded and bought this books after reading the reviews, which suggested that this book was more of the same - an hilarious page-turner that I wouldn't be able to put down. However, this was anything but the case. The book was boring and predictable. There were a couple of twists in the book but even they were underwhelming.
Since Unbreakable has been reviewed so wonderfully by others I can only confirm that once you've read the first page you won't stop reading until you get to the last page. I laughed so hard tears rolled down my cheeks. What a wonderful writer! Read this 6 star book, you will not regret it! (And neiner, neiner, neiner, when I ordered this used from I received a copy signed by the author!)
I wanted to try another author in lesbian romance. Blayne Cooper isn't bad. Definitely not my favorite, but worth checking out.
One of the best books I have ever read. I was laughing till my sides hurt, crying like a baby, and falling in love with All five women.
This book is a wonderful adventure of 5 little girls who are the very best of friends. From scrapes and bruises to love and dating...elementary school to college, they have been through it together. Secrets have torn them apart for the last 20 years but, will another secret bring them back together and make their bond unbreakable? This book has humor, love, friendship, betrayal, and secrets. Unbreakable is a great book and the characters are so believable and in most cases likeable. A pure pleasure to read. Blayne Cooper is amazing writer and I have enjoyed all her work so far...I can't wait to read more! My advice is read this great book...it will pull you in and pull at your heartstrings in the process. You won't be disappointed! This book will stay in my collection to read again!
